Lyman Products Corporation is currently looking for a talented and professional engineer to join our product team to support the growing needs of our exciting new Mark 7 Division. This position will be located in our Fort Myers, FL facility and will work very closely with our engineering team in our CT location. This new division, acquired in 2019, represents the future of consumer and commercial reloading and has unlimited growth potential. The position will offer the right candidate the opportunity to be an integral part of the development and future of this innovative product line. Responsibilities will include product design, design for manufacturing, prototype development, manufacturing integration, and supply chain planning. Candidates will have the opportunity to bring products from ideation to market while working with all ranges of employees from CNC operator to CEO. The position requires talent, high energy, a team-based attitude and a willingness to go the distance.
A successful candidate will have the technical ability to bring products from ideation through to commercialization and/or manufacturing. Instead of being a specialist in any single engineering discipline, the candidate must have broad technical aptitudes and interests. This position is ideal for a person who prefers to have a hands-on role in an open culture of collaboration, and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with Marketing to conduct research and create design proposals for projects.
- Create concepts, performance, and production criteria.
- Design, prototype and verify complete product before approval for production.
- Provide product cost estimates.
- Evaluate design alternatives based on cost, quality and production feasibility.
- Work with global and domestic suppliers to optimize and document designs for production.
- Conduct design reviews with the Manufacturing, Finance, Sales and Marketing.
- Create BOM’s and routings in ERP System.
- Provide manufacturing and production support for new products and continuous improvement of existing products.
- Interact with manufacturing, quality, and line personnel to implement new designs into production.
- Must be able to interact with internal and external customers for conceptual ideas.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or higher in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of demonstrated product design and development experience in electro-mechanical products.
- Skilled in DFM & DFA Practices with experience designing parts for CNC, injection molding and castings.
- Project management experience with a strong drive for results and clear accountability for successful and timely completion of designated tasks and projects.
- Knowledge and experience with supplier management.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), project and time management skills.
- Microsoft Office and 3D CAD modeling experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Firearm and Accessory experience along with a knowledge of the shooting sports industry.
- SolidWorks experience
Working Conditions:
This position does require Safety Glasses for personal protective equipment. MUST CHECK AND USE POSTED PPE FOR SPECIFIC TASK – POSTED IN JOB AREA
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- his is a full-time position, Days and hours of work week are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Willing to work outside standard working hours as needed.
- Some travel may be required.
